_The Ogun West Youth Progressive Forum (OYPF) has raised serious concerns on fairness, transparency and the disregard for established protocols in a recent nomination that was held._
_The nomination of *MORENIKEJI OLUKOYEJO* popularly known as “KOYE” to the *NIGERIA YOUTH PARLIAMENT* has sparked widespread discontent among the youths of OgunWest, who feel that the nomination was biased._
The inequitable nomination, which was instituted by the Ogun State Ministry of Youths and Sports, currently led by the Commissioner for Sports in Ogun state is strongly believed to be blemished by lack of transparency and the disregard for Merit, Conflict of Interest amongst others.
It is very evident that the selection criteria and evaluation process were not clearly communicated, there were clear suspicions of favoritism and most importantly, more qualified and experienced individuals were overlooked, despite their higher ranking credentials.
According to clear evidences and reports, the nominated fellow, KOYE, did not meet the required age range for the nomination and has failed to prove his membership of Ogun West either by a Certified Voter’s card or a National Identification Number (NIN) which has made his qualifications and membership very much questionable and in turn has posed a threat to the transparency we all preach about as an organization.
KOYE is also said to be imposed on Ogun West Youths by a Top Government functionary from Ogun East.
This unfair boycott of nomination as we all know undermines the organization’s core values and has severe consequences:
– Despoliation of Trust: The youths feel vulnerable and question the organization’s commitment to fairness.
– Demotivation: Talented individuals as youths who truthfully meet the required criteria may feel discouraged from participating in the future which would of course, taint the image of the parliament.
– Inefficient Leadership:Unqualified leaders, who are appointed through mediocre nominations like this can hinder progress and undermine the organization’s mission.
To restore fairness and transparency, we demand:
– An Immediate Review: We demand an Investigation into the nomination process and make findings public.
– Clear Nomination Criteria: Merit-based guidelines ought to be established and adhered to
By speaking out against this unfair nomination, we can protect the integrity of our dear parliament and ensure that future selections or nominations are fair, transparent, and merit-based.
