The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has fired a strong warning shot at the Fintech sector, demanding the immediate reversal of the N50 transfer levy imposed on students and citizens alike. This draconian measure, introduced by Fintech without due consultation, has been met with widespread condemnation from students and the general public.

In a strongly-worded statement, NANS President, Mr. Sunday Asefon, lamented the negative impact of the levy on the lives of students, who are already grappling with various financial challenges. “This is nothing short of daylight robbery,” he exclaimed. “How can we expect students to pay such an exorbitant fee for every transfer? It’s unsustainable and unfair.”

The association is calling for an immediate repeal of the N50 transfer levy, arguing that it is a significant burden on students and will further exacerbate the already dire financial situation in the country. “We cannot continue to tolerate this kind of exploitation,” Asefon emphasized. “Fintech must listen to the cries of students and repeal this unjust levy.”

NANS also expressed concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability surrounding the introduction of the levy. “We demand to know what exactly this money will be used for,” Asefon queried. “Will it be used to improve our education system or fund other frivolous projects? We need answers.”

The association is urging all stakeholders, including government agencies and regulatory bodies, to intervene and ensure that Fintech reverses its decision. “We will not sit idly by while our rights are being trampled upon,” Asefon declared. “We will continue to fight for justice and fairness until this oppressive levy is scrapped.”

In conclusion, NANS is resolute in its demand for the reversal of the N50 transfer levy. The association is committed to protecting the interests of students and fighting against any form of exploitation that may undermine their well-being.
