The Federal High Court (FHC) in Lagos has introduced an online portal for the public to obtain affidavits, bringing the court in line with modern digital practices. The innovation was introduced by Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, and is designed to make the process more convenient and efficient.
During a visit to the Lagos division of the court, the Deputy Chief Registrar, Mr. Godwin Long, gave a tour of the new ICT department headed by Mr. Agwu Charles. Agwu explained how the public can access the portal: “You can now log on to portal.fhc.gov.ng and follow the instructions to obtain affidavits for purposes such as loss of items, age declaration, or change of name.”
Longe noted that the portal currently only processes non-case-related affidavits, and those filed to support a case are still handled manually due to their unique nature. However, he emphasized that with the new portal, individuals no longer need to be physically present to obtain these types of affidavits.
The online portal is available at portal.fhc.gov.ng, and users can follow the instructions to complete their affidavit applications. This innovation is expected to streamline the process and make it more accessible for the public.
