A devastating building collapse in Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State has resulted in the tragic loss of three lives. The incident occurred on September 9, 2024, at approximately 23:50hrs, when a room in a residential house collapsed.
According to DSP Lawan Adam, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, the collapse was reported to the police by Ahmad Isah of Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu LGA, at around 00:05hrs on September 10, 2024.
A team of police officers and a Good Samaritan responded to the scene, launching a rescue operation that successfully evacuated seven individuals. The victims were rushed to Birnin Kudu General Hospital for medical attention.
Upon arrival, the attending physician confirmed that three of the seven victims had sadly passed away. The deceased individuals have been identified as Khalifa Ahmad, 13; Tijjani Ahmad, 12; and Rabiu Ahmad, 12, all from the same address. The bodies were handed over to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.
The four other survivors are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Meanwhile, the police command has also made a significant arrest, apprehending three armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Dutse metropolis and Shuwarin town in Kiyawa LGA.
