The French football league (LFP) has offered to mediate between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe, who is disputing his unpaid wages and bonuses, the club announced on Wednesday.
Mbappe claims that PSG owes him 55 million euros ($60.6m), which the club disputes. The 25-year-old France captain alleges that this amount includes his signing bonus, which he was supposed to receive in February, as well as his final three months of salary and an “ethical bonus” covering the same period.
The case was referred to the LFP’s legal committee by Mbappe’s lawyers after he joined Real Madrid this summer. The league has proposed mediation between the two parties.
PSG has expressed its satisfaction with the hearing, stating that the club has made clear commitments to respect the player’s public and private agreements, given the “unprecedented benefits” it has afforded him over seven years. The club has been seeking mediation for several months.
The commission has now invited Mbappe to consider the mediation process, which could potentially resolve the dispute.
