A lecturer at Foreign Links College of Health Technology, Dr. Nsikak Akpan, is set to attempt to break a world record by delivering a 150-hour marathon lecture. The event, scheduled to begin on Monday, aims to surpass the current record of 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds held by Indian Professor Arvin Mishra since 2014.
Akpan’s application to Guinness World Records has been approved, and he will be lecturing on the theme “Relationships between man’s environment and health” to students at the college. He hopes to raise awareness about the consequences of environmental abuse and give back to the academic community.
The lecturer expressed his determination to set a new record, saying, “I am attempting to set a new Guinness record for the longest lecture marathon 10 years after it was achieved in India. The quest is aimed at giving back to the academic environment as I attempt to tell the world the consequences of abusing the environment by man.”
It’s worth noting that another individual, Samson Ajao, had previously achieved a record of 215 hours for reading aloud in Osogbo, but this attempt is focused on lecturing rather than reading aloud.
