“My lord, the counsel presented by the defendant in this court has been nothing short of an audacious display of irresponsibility.
The prosecution counsel implored the court to exercise its authority to make it clear that this is not a place for entertainment. He emphasized that instead of attending the trial, the defendant claimed to have visited the EFCC’s office, accompanied by a person with immunity, complete with all the accoutrements and security of their office.
The prosecution noted that this implies that if there was an attempt to separate him from the person with immunity, it could have led to a confrontation and even chaos. Furthermore, when an invitation was sent later in the day for him to come alone, it was refused.
After hearing both sides, Justice Nwite adjourned the matter until October 30 for a ruling.”
