The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 54 individuals suspected of internet fraud during separate operations in Rivers and Adamawa states.

In a statement shared on X.com on Wednesday, the EFCC indicated that 33 suspects were arrested in their hideouts located in the Iwofe and Ogboro areas of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This sting operation, conducted by the EFCC’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate, was based on reliable intelligence gathered by the agency.

The statement revealed that among the items seized from the suspects were various mobile devices, laptops, boxes containing counterfeit United States dollars, and fake stamps from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Customs, airport clearances, DHL, and FedEx, along with two vehicles.

In a separate incident in Yola, Adamawa State, 21 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested on Tuesday at various locations near Modibo Adamawa University. Items confiscated during these arrests included 13 mobile phones, 12 of which were Android devices, one laptop, and one tablet.

The EFCC noted that the suspects would face charges in court once investigations are completed.
