eral Government has allocated funds to settle the pending salaries of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities (NASU).Mr. Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), announced this in a statement released in Abuja on Saturday.Mokwa also indicated that the government has provided funds for the payment of benefits to retirees under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme Sector (NUPCPS).He confirmed that payments to NASU members have already begun, with many reporting that they have received their dues.He emphasized the Federal Government’s dedication to ensuring the welfare of Nigerian workers and retirees.According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NASU, alongside the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), initiated a nationwide strike on Monday.SSANU President Mohammed Ibrahim stated that the strike will persist for the next seven days unless the government addresses the unions’ grievances.The unions had previously issued a seven-day ultimatum, demanding the government rectify payment disparities among university unions.
