To all students, alumni, and stakeholders of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU),We have been made aware of a disturbing trend of misinformation circulating on social media and other platforms, suggesting that the Ayetoro campus is not a part of OOU or that it is being treated unfairly We want to categorically state that this is _FALSE_ and _MISLEADING_.
The Ayetoro campus has been an integral part of OOU since its establishment, and it has been providing quality education to thousands of students over the years.
The campus is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and has been producing graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions in their various fields.Historical ContextIt is essential to note that the transformation of OOU into a multi-campus university was a deliberate effort by the Ogun State Government, led by _Otunba Gbenga Daniel_, who was the Governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011. During his tenure, Governor Daniel initiated a number of reforms and developments in the education sector, including the expansion of OOU to multiple campuses.In 2005, Governor Daniel’s administration implemented the multi-campus system for OOU, which led to the establishment of new campuses at Ayetoro, Sagamu, and Ibogun.
This move was aimed at increasing access to higher education for students in Ogun State and providing more opportunities for academic and research excellence..
Active Participation in OOU SUG The Ayetoro campus has been actively participating in the OOU Students’ Union Government (SUG) and has held various positions, including:- Social Director- Sports Director- Public Relations Officer (PRO)- And other key positions Notably, the Ayetoro campus has produced three notable leaders who have held the positions of:- Vice President 3- Social Director – Assistant General Secretary 3
These positions were won without any external influence, demonstrating the campus’s ability to produce capable and dedicated leaders.• Contesting for President.
It’s so sadden to discover that there can be selfish reasons behind the circulation of the baseless claim that Agricultural Science student haven’t served as OOUSUG President before, Comrade Olufemi Adesanya Nuberu was a former SUG President from Agricultural Science but it’s ridiculous to notice attempt to erase his history while it should have be celebrated.
Such desperation like this would only make another failed attempt to occur as it as been in record that another two different Students of Agriculture Science contested to become OOUSUG President but it was a complete failed attempt.
We would urge that history shouldn’t be tampered with but always written accurately and precisely.
It is also worth mentioning that the Ayetoro campus has contested for the position of President twice, with aspirants _Richy_ and _Hamzah_ putting up a good fight. Although they were not successful in their bids, they were not disqualified, as some false information has suggested.
They were simply defeated in the elections, which is a normal part of the democratic process.• Embracing Unity. In light of these facts, we urge all stakeholders to disregard any misinformation, suggesting that the Ayetoro campus is being treated unfairly or that it is not a part of OOU. Such claims are baseless and only serve to create division, desperation, selfishness hatred and discord.
Instead, we should focus on promoting unity and cooperation among all campuses, recognizing that we are all part of the same OOU family. By working together and supporting each other, we can achieve great things and take our university to even greater heights.Let us put an end to the spread of false information and come together in the spirit of unity and cooperation.Thank you for your attention to this matter.
