JUSTIFICATION FOR THE DISQUALIFICATION OF COMRADE KABIRU TOYOSI (CASHLINK) This memo addresses concerns regarding the disqualification of Comrade Kabiru Toyosi (CASHLINK) from the SUG presidential election.
The ECO reaffirms that this decision was made in line with the O0USUG Constitution and electoral guidelines, supported by evidence to ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity. Justification for Disqualification
1. Breach of Electoral Guidelines:
The electoral guidelines (December 23, 2024) explicitly state that all campaign materials, including banners, must bear the signatures of the ECO Chairman, SPEDU, and CSO before public display. Evidence from our investigation shows that Comrade CASHLINK displayed banners that lacked these mandatory approvals, constituting a clear violation.
2. Constitutional Backing: • Section 72 (1-5) of the 0OUSUG Constitution empowers the ECO to issue and enforce guidelines and impose penalties for violations. •
The evidence of unsigned campaign banners, alongside the aspirant’s acknowledgment of this oversight, directly validates the ECO’s decision.
3. Integrity of the Electoral Process: Allowing such breaches to go unaddressed would undermine the credibility of the lectoral process and the quthority of the Eco, compromsing the principles or toirness and disenfranchising the student body.
