Open Letter to the State Coordinator of Akwa IbomDear State Coordinator of Akwa Ibom,We, the concerned core members of Akwa Ibom NYSC, are writing to bring to your attention a disturbing trend that has been ongoing in the state.
Despite the NYSC’s mission to promote national unity and development, we have been subjected to extortion, delay, and unfair treatment by the Local Government Inspector (LGI) of Uyo.
The LGI has been collecting bribes from corps members, delaying the process of resolving issues, and even exposing us to sleeping cells even when we are not at fault.
This is unacceptable and goes against the principles of fairness and justice that the NYSC is supposed to uphold.
We are calling on you to take immediate action to address this issue and ensure that the NYSC program in Akwa Ibom state is run with transparency and integrity.
We demand that you:
1. Investigate the allegations of extortion and corruption by the LGI of Uyo and take necessary disciplinary actions.
2. Ensure that corps members are treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their background or circumstances.
3. Provide a safe and conducive environment for corps members to serve and contribute to the development of the state. We urge all corps members, past and present, to come forward and share their experiences.
Let us stand together and demand justice and fairness. We will not be silenced or intimidated by the actions of a few individuals who are bent on destroying the reputation of the NYSC.We are counting on you, State Coordinator, to take our complaints seriously and take immediate action to address the issues we have raised.
We are watching and waiting, and we will not rest until justice is served.Sincerely,Concerned Core Members, Ak 24B Set
