Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have successfully neutralized the kidnappers of Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General Hakeem Odumosu, and safely rescued her.On January 16, 2025, at around 9:45 PM, four masked gunmen forcibly abducted Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus Jeep outside her home in Arepo, Ogun State, prompting a swift response from the anti-kidnapping unit of the Ogun State Police Command.
They quickly launched a comprehensive investigation and an active pursuit of the suspects.According to a statement from Force Headquarters, with the assistance of advanced technical intelligence platforms, Ogun State police conducted extensive surveillance of the creeks surrounding Arepo to gather key information on the kidnappers’ whereabouts.Their efforts culminated in a raid on January 23, 2025, at approximately 6:45 AM.
The operation, guided by intelligence, led police to a creek in the swampy region of Ikorodu, where the kidnappers were reportedly planning their next move. Upon arrival, the operatives were engaged in a shootout with the suspects.
During the confrontation, two gunmen were neutralized, while four others escaped, leaving behind their weapons. Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unharmed from the swampy area during the operation.She is now undergoing a medical assessment as a precaution and has been reunited with her family.
The police also recovered four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, various calibers of ammunition, and a ransom of N10,000,000 that had been demanded by the kidnappers. Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and effectiveness in this operation. “This mission exemplifies the commitment and resilience of our police officers.
