Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has introduced 20 new academic programs, according to an announcement made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, on Thursday 23rd of January 2025.

The new courses include Cyber Security, Forensic Science, Data Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Estate Management, Building Technology, and Software Engineering, among others.

The introduction of these new programs is aimed at keeping the university in line with emerging global trends and preparing students for the evolving job market.

This announcement was made ahead of the institution’s 34th convocation ceremony, scheduled to take place next week.During the ceremony, a total of 6,209 undergraduates will be graduating, including 5,793 regular students and 416 part-time students. Of these, 115 students will be receiving first-class honors. Additionally, 741 postgraduates will be conferred with diplomas and higher degrees, comprising 571 PGD/Master’s and 170 PhD holders.

The breakdown of the graduating students is as follows: 115 with first-class honors, 1,845 with second-class upper division, 3,044 with second-class lower division, 688 with third-class honors, 35 with pass grades, and 66 unclassified graduates from the medical programs.

The overall best graduating student is Dauda Anuoluwapo from the Economics Department, with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.87.

The convocation lecture, themed “TEFFund and Educational Development in Nigeria: The History, the Treasures, and the Future,” will be delivered by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sunny Echono.
