MTN, Nigeria’s leading telecommunications provider, announced on Thursday that it has reversed its recent implementation of a 200 percent increase in tariffs for its 15G data plan.
This decision follows widespread backlash from customers regarding the steep price hike, which was introduced on Tuesday alongside increases for other data packages.
In a statement shared on its official X account, MTN acknowledged the frustration caused by the sudden tariff increase.
The company expressed its understanding of the disappointment felt by customers, stating, “We know how upsetting it must have been to suddenly wake up to a 200 percent increase on your favourite digital bundle.”MTN further admitted, “Let’s just say it was a mistake,” and urged its customers to forgive the error, emphasizing their commitment to valuing their loyalty.
The message concluded with a heartfelt apology, reinforcing that customer satisfaction is a top priority for the company.
