Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker for Kogi Central Senatorial District, did not attend the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions meeting on Wednesday, which was convened to investigate her behavior during last week’s plenary session.

The senator had been involved in a contentious exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio regarding seat assignments. Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of publicly humiliating her and hindering her proposed motions and bills on the Senate floor.

Her refusal to accept a new seating arrangement resulted in the Senate President preventing her from speaking during the session. In light of these events, the Senate referred the issue to its Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions. During the committee meeting, Chairman Senator Neda Imasuen (PDP, Edo South) expressed disappointment over Akpoti-Uduaghan’s absence, remarking, “Senator Natasha was duly invited to this meeting.

We hope she will join us as we continue.” At the time of this report, the Kogi lawmaker had not yet arrived for the hearing.
