The Abia State Government has reported the death of Sunny Onwuma, a member of the Abia State Executive Council and the Honourable Commissioner for Labour and Productivity.In a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, it was revealed that Onwuma passed away in the early hours of Monday, March 3, 2025, following a brief illness. Hailing from Ihie in the Ugwunagbo Local Government Area, he was an alumnus of Government College Umuahia and Abia State University, Uturu.
The statement highlighted Onwuma’s commitment to the Labour Party and his esteemed position as a leader within his community. At the age of 61, he is survived by his wife and four children.In part, the statement expressed, “The Abia State Government extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Abia State.
We earnestly pray that God Almighty grants his soul eternal rest and provides his family with the strength to endure this profound loss.“Burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.”
