In a strategic initiative aimed at boosting economic development and empowering the youth, the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), in partnership with King’s Trust International (KTI), has officially launched the Employability Support Project.This project is designed to address youth unemployment and to arm young people in Lagos with essential job-ready skills.

Over the next three years, it aims to provide training for more than 2,000 young individuals through two key programs: the Get Into Programme and the Get Hired Programme.Participants will gain both soft and technical skills tailored to in-demand sectors, alongside training in self-awareness, CV writing, job search techniques, and interview preparation. By imparting these skills, the initiative seeks to bridge existing skills gaps and enhance job placement opportunities.

At the project launch, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted the partnership between LSETF and KTI as a significant milestone in fostering a more inclusive and prosperous Lagos.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an environment conducive for youth to thrive and generate employment opportunities.British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, Mr. Jonny Baxter, voiced his support for the project, stating, The UK recognizes the crucial role of skilled young people in addressing present and future global challenges. We are honored to support innovation and skills development in Nigeria.

He also emphasized the significance of international collaborations in promoting economic growth and youth empowerment.Feyisayo Alayande, Executive Secretary of LSETF, stressed the importance of this partnership, noting, “Working with King’s Trust International is a significant step toward our goal of reducing unemployment in Lagos State.

The CEO of King’s Trust International, echoed this sentiment, stating, “The collaboration with LSETF represents a pivotal advancement, allowing us to expand our programs throughout Lagos over the next three years.”Wole Onasanya, Chief Executive Officer of Coronation Group, added: “We are excited to support the Youth Employability Support Project, which reflects our dedication to empowering African youth and driving economic growth.”
