Nasir el-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In a statement, he criticized the APC’s leadership for straying from its founding progressive ideals, stating that he had raised concerns about the party’s direction over the past two years without any response from its leaders. El-Rufai expressed his dissatisfaction with how the current APC management has neglected its members and failed to address significant issues.
He stressed that his eight years of implementing progressive policies in Kaduna State were undervalued within the party.
El-Rufai officially submitted his resignation to his local party office and urged his supporters to join him in the SDP to promote a unified democratic challenge to the APC in future elections.
