As the leadership of the Northern Youth Initiative for Peace and Good Governance (NYIPGG), we feel compelled to address the ongoing distortion of facts affecting the Northern community, driven by certain politicians who exploit every situation for their personal political ambitions.
Islamic teachings emphasize the significance of supporting the needy not just during Ramadan, but throughout the year.
This principle inspired Nigeria’s first son, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, to launch an iftar program under the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, reaching nearly all Muslim-majority states in Northern Nigeria.
This initiative, rooted in goodwill, enabled the son of the President to engage with youth, key stakeholders, Islamic leaders, and traditional authorities at the grassroots level, earning him commendation—a first for a member of Nigeria’s first family.
Regrettably, as advocates of peace and good governance, we have observed a coordinated effort by some individuals to mischaracterize the intentions behind Mr. Seyi Tinubu’s Ramadan Iftar program for their political gain, disguised as part of their 2027 campaign strategy.
They overlook the fact that the future, including 2027, remains in God’s hands.It is essential to clarify that Seyi Tinubu is not an elected official; his actions stem from a genuine desire to help those in need.
Since Nigeria’s independence, many sons of past presidents have emerged, yet none have shown the same level of compassion toward the underprivileged.
The Ramadan initiative is merely one aspect of the broader efforts under the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, with more charitable actions planned. These initiatives are driven by benevolence, and the beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude for the positive impact they have made.
We urge those spreading misinformation to reflect on the teachings of this holy month and refrain from falsehoods, as we will ultimately be accountable for our words and deeds.
