The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has announced that the state generated N14.16 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) during the first two months of 2025.Refuting claims of a revenue decline under Governor Uba Sani, the agency emphasized that its financial records are publicly available.
In a statement released on Friday by the Head of Corporate Communications, Zakari Muhammad, KADIRS outlined key reforms that have contributed to the increase in revenue.
Muhammad pointed out that enhanced tax administration has established Kaduna as the top-performing state in IGR within Northern Nigeria. “Over the past two years, the state has introduced significant revenue administration reforms, including the launch of an integrated tax administration portal (PAYKADUNA), initiatives for financial inclusion, and improved engagement with taxpayers.
These reforms have yielded impressive results, as Kaduna State collected IGR of N62.48 billion and N71 billion in 2023 and 2024, respectively,” Muhammad added.
Breaking down the state’s revenues for early 2025, the statement disclosed that IGR collections amounted to N7.46 billion in January and N6.68 billion in February, totaling N14.16 billion for the two-month period.
The revenue service also addressed rumors regarding the removal of a former Executive Chairman of KADIRS, which implied it was due to their criticism of the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly over tax issues.
The agency labeled these claims as “baseless” and clarified that the former chairman completed their full four-year term as stipulated by the Kaduna State Tax Codification and Consolidation Law before a new appointment was made.Additionally, KADIRS refuted allegations of facilitating a N100 million payment to any person or organization, stating, “The IGR account is a collection and transit account and NOT an expenditure account; therefore, it is inaccurate to suggest that any funds could be withdrawn from it to meet external interests,” Muhammad stated.
Reaffirming its dedication to transparency and efficiency, KADIRS assured the public that its operations are conducted in a professional and apolitical manner.
The service emphasizes its status as an autonomous agency of Kaduna State and remains committed to its mission of ensuring smooth and efficient revenue mobilization for public service delivery, without bias towards any individual or group.
