The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed claims that Justice Emmanuel Agim attended a convocation ceremony at the University of Calabar with Minister Nyesom Wike. In a statement from the Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations,
Akande Festus, it was clarified that Justice Agim participated in the event as an honouree and alumnus, receiving an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law.

Festus emphasized that misleading information suggesting Justice Agim’s attendance was in association with the Minister was false.
Justice Agim was honored for his significant contributions to the legal profession, exemplifying justice, integrity, and the rule of law.
He had initially planned to attend the burial of Justice Stanley Alagoa in Bayelsa State but sought permission to attend the convocation instead.
The statement reaffirmed that Justice Agim’s participation was personal and independent, not related to any government capacity.
