The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has mobilized 754 patrol vehicles, 143 ambulances, and additional crucial equipment to oversee highways and manage traffic during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
A statement released on Thursday by FRSC Spokesperson Olusegun Ogungbemide outlined that this resource deployment is part of the organization’s strategy to minimize road traffic accidents, fatalities, and injuries from March 27 to April 2, 2025.
These patrol vehicles will be strategically positioned along key routes and high-traffic zones to enforce traffic regulations, clear disruptions, and promptly respond to emergencies.In addition to the patrol vehicles and ambulances, the FRSC has also dispatched 157 administrative vehicles, 48 tow trucks, and radar equipment to monitor speed violations.
The statement highlighted the Corps’ objectives to safeguard the lives and property of all road users during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
The FRSC has mobilized its entire workforce, including Special Marshals, to assist with the seamless travel of commuters across the nation.
This effort will be supported by effective logistics and operational material distribution nationwide,” it noted, listing the resources deployed, such as the 754 patrol vehicles, 143 ambulances, and 48 tow trucks, alongside radar guns to check for speeding.
The FRSC has set up 16 traffic control camps along various routes and is managing 53 critical pathways throughout the country.Priority corridors for the operation include the Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Birnin Kebbi, Katsina-Kano-Wudil-Dutse-Azare-Potiskum, and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano routes.
The 143 ambulances will be stationed at various points along these critical highways to ensure swift response and medical assistance to accident victims.
Furthermore, roadside clinics and emergency rescue teams have been established to provide constant support.Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed underscored that the early deployment of resources reflects the FRSC’s proactive approach to managing the anticipated increase in traffic volume, speeding, and other risky behaviors associated with the Eid-el-Fitr travels.
By maintaining a visible presence on the roads, the FRSC aims to discourage reckless driving and promote safer, smoother travel for all road users.
To bolster this initiative, the FRSC has set up mobile courts and is collaborating with the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other organizations to ensure effective enforcement.Motorists are urged to report traffic incidents or seek help via the FRSC’s mobile app, social media platforms, or toll-free helpline.
