A Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has sentenced three artisans—Isiaka Jimoh, Lekan Ahmed, and Adebayo Saheed—to death by hanging for the murder of fellow mechanic Saheed Lawal.
The court found them guilty of culpable homicide after they tortured Lawal to death over accusations of stealing motor oil.

The incident occurred on November 5, 2020, near a mechanic workshop in Offa, where the convicts also attempted to kill another artisan, Hamzat Ibrahim, by pouring hot pepper into his ears.
The prosecution, led by Ayoola Akande, established the case with evidence from eight witnesses, including a medical professional who confirmed Lawal’s death upon arrival at the hospital.
Justice Adebayo Yusuf ruled that the evidence proved the defendants’ culpability and sentenced them to death by hanging, stating, “May God have mercy on their souls.”
