Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has cautioned President Bola Tinubu about his recent decision to impose a state of emergency in Rivers State, labeling it as “anti-democratic.
On March 18, President Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months.In a discussion on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Momodu expressed his disappointment, noting that while he and Tinubu have a history as political allies in the fight for democracy, he finds the current situation troubling, stating, “what we are witnessing is worse than dictatorship.
He urged Tinubu to preserve democracy in Nigeria and advised him not to be misled by people around him.
Momodu also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of employing intimidation tactics against the opposition, warning Tinubu to remain vigilant and focus on effective governance to secure a second term.
The ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State stems from a conflict between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara.
