Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has committed to revitalizing all cultural heritage sites that belong to the state’s residents.
He made this announcement on Saturday during the 38th Lisabi Festival, which took place at Ake Palace in Abeokuta. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), this year’s festival theme is “Back to Land; Panacea for Food Sustainability and Youth Empowerment in Egbaland.” Abiodun emphasized the importance of the tourism sector as a crucial avenue for enhancing the state’s revenue generation, asserting that tourism serves as a means to preserve and celebrate the culture and traditions of the people.
He specifically mentioned plans to rehabilitate Olumo Rock, highlighting it as one of the state’s key tourist attractions.
The governor noted that the festival’s theme was fitting, as it aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda aimed at economic revitalization through agriculture. Abiodun assured continued investment in agriculture to empower the youth and promote development in rural areas.
He also pledged to improve rural roads, facilitating the transportation of farm produce throughout the state. In his remarks to the Egba community, Abiodun praised the Lisabi Festival for fostering unity and reinforcing cultural identity.
He encouraged Egba indigenes to honor the legacy of Lisabi, the warrior who fought for their freedom. Additionally, he recognized the contributions of the Alake of Egba, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to the region’s socio-economic development.
