Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal has claimed she is “holier and more impactful” than gospel singer Tope Alabi after the latter declined to perform at a surprise birthday party organized in her honor.
The situation unfolded on Friday, April 4, 2025, when Lizzy’s fans, in collaboration with her husband, Lateef Lawal, invited Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji Alabi, to Lizzy’s store in Lagos for a surprise performance.
Upon arriving, the Alabis walked out without singing, realizing the occasion was a birthday celebration for the actress.In a video that surfaced on social media, Lizzy expressed that she had no intention of celebrating her birthday and criticized her fans for funding an event she did not authorize.

I can’t judge their reaction, but if I had invited them myself, I wouldn’t have paid them anything,” she stated.In a follow-up video, Lizzy directly addressed Tope Alabi, questioning the singer’s moral authority and comparing their respective contributions to society. “I am holier than you, Aunty mi Tope… I have done more good.
I have added more value to society than you,” Lizzy asserted. She added, “If you judge me, I am thankful that God does not judge me.
Furthermore, Lizzy claimed that many of those who benefited from Tope Alabi did so due to personal connections rather than any significant impact made by the singer in the wider community.
As of now, Tope Alabi has not publicly responded to Lizzy’s remarks. Meanwhile, fans of both stars have taken to social media to voice their divided opinions on the matter, with some supporting Tope Alabi’s right to choose her performance venues, while others criticized her for accepting the invitation only to back out upon arrival.
