Operatives from the Rivers State Police Command used teargas on a group of protesters affiliated with the ‘Take It Back Movement’ in Port Harcourt.
The protesters assembled at Isaac Boro Park in the state capital as early as 9 a.m., but were confronted with a significant police presence.Despite the show of force, the protesters remained resolute. “Nobody can dictate where we can or cannot gather; we are Rivers people,” some of them asserted to the police.
Reports indicate that police operatives physically assaulted several protesters and journalists at the scene.More information to follow.
