Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced his satisfaction with the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections in both Imo State and across Nigeria.
Speaking at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, Imo State, over the weekend, Anyanwu addressed the state Executive Committee, which included local government area chairpersons, ward and women leaders, as well as key stakeholders.
He emphasized the need for party unity in pursuit of their common goal, highlighting the significance of the upcoming gubernatorial election in reclaiming power in Imo State.
Anyanwu remarked, The people of Imo are exhausted, frustrated, and misled by the current administration, leading to a significant loss of faith in the government.
The PDP must be seen as the viable alternative for them.
I am pleased to see that our party is well-prepared, strategic, and popular enough to secure victory in the 2027 elections in Imo.
He noted that recent judicial decisions from the Supreme Court have eliminated divisions within the party, stating, “What I witness today reassures me that the PDP is a strong force, ready to take control of the state in 2027.
Expressing optimism about the party’s growing support and renewed enthusiasm, Anyanwu indicated that there is a push to regain its former strength and attract new members.
Regarding his own ambitions, Anyanwu clarified that he does not intend to run for governor in 2027, affirming that any qualified and popular member of the party is welcome to contest for the gubernatorial position or any other role they desire.
