Two actors have been confirmed dead after allegedly consuming rice, wine, and calypso at a house party in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, on Friday.According to sources, the deceased, whose identities have not been revealed, attended the gathering following the filming of a movie.
One source reported that during the event, attendees enjoyed rice and drinks provided by the movie director.
The party went on into the early hours of the morning, but the director, who had retired to bed earlier, woke up at dawn to turn off the generator and switch to public electricity.
It was then that he discovered two individuals deceased and two others in critical condition.Social media user Kaito Karisia shared the news on Facebook, mentioning that the two survivors are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Owerri.
In response to the incident, the police have arrested the movie director and three women who were present at the party.
Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the tragic event, stating that an investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the deaths. “Yes, we are aware of this unfortunate incident involving unnatural deaths.
I can confirm that two individuals have been pronounced dead, while two others are hospitalized.
The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has instructed the pathologist to conduct tests on the deceased to establish the cause of their deaths.
