The Foreign Investment Network (FIN), a prominent investment organization based in London, recently recognized two Nigerian State Governors, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Monday Okpebholo of Edo, along with the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, and several other distinguished figures during its international award ceremony held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This landmark event took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf, coinciding with the 2025 Net Zero MEA Summit.
The ceremony saw the participation of top Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Managing Directors (MDs), innovators, founders, and various stakeholders from around the globe.At the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu received the Distinguished FIN Outstanding Leadership Award, while Governor Okpebholo was awarded the Distinguished FIN Emerging Governor of the Year Award, honoring their significant accomplishments in Lagos and Edo states.Additionally, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, the Managing Director/CEO of the Bank of Industry (BoI), was presented with the Distinguished FIN Transformational Leader in Development Finance Award. Doris Uboh, the Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), was also recognized as the Distinguished FIN Rural Electrification Champion of the Year for her exceptional contributions to public service.In his address at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, who accepted the Distinguished FIN Outstanding Leadership Award on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu, emphasized, “Our unique selling point is not merely our upwardly mobile population, but a growth trajectory that positions Lagos as a premier destination for investment.”
