Lagos State Government has launched a new phase of its capacity-building initiative for public officials, featuring a series of professional training workshops aimed at enhancing the skills of the state’s workforce and equipping them to meet the evolving demands of public service.
In a statement issued yesterday, the latest training series includes focused modules on policy development, harnessing talent for the future of public service, effective report writing and communication, team building, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and unlocking liquidity through transformational leadership.
The programme is scheduled to run until mid-May 2025 and is being conducted across various training centers in Ikeja.Afolabi Ayantayo, the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, explained that this initiative is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to reposition the public service through knowledge enhancement and leadership development.
These training sessions are tailored to address both current and future competencies needed by public officers in Lagos State,” he stated. Ayantayo reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to investing in human capital development, emphasizing that the capacity and competence of the public service are vital to realizing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s development goals.
He highlighted the importance of report writing, describing it as one of the most essential skills for civil servants.
The commissioner noted that the training offers a valuable opportunity for officials to sharpen their skills, underscoring that effective communication is at the core of their daily duties.In her remarks, Olubusola Abidakun, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, who officially inaugurated the policy formulation training, stressed the crucial role that policymaking plays in societal advancement.
She stated that the programme aims to help participants improve their skills and broaden their perspectives, marking an important step toward ensuring they serve the public with the highest standards of professionalism and effectiveness.
