The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 18 academic programs at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, marking a significant milestone in the university’s academic development.
This accreditation followed the NUC’s evaluation conducted in October and November 2024.In a statement released on Monday, Bode Olofinmuagun, Head of EKSU’s Directorate of Information, announced that the accreditation approval was communicated via a letter dated April 30, 2025.
The letter was signed by Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation at the NUC, on behalf of the Commission’s Executive Secretary.
This development also reaffirms EKSU’s rising reputation as the leading state university in Nigeria, as ranked by the Times Higher Education 2025 universities ranking,” he stated.The newly accredited programs include fields such as Administration; M.Sc. Business Administration; Master of Personnel Management; M.Sc. Finance; Master of Public Administration; Master of Business Administration; Arts; Arabic Studies; Islamic Studies; Philosophy; Building and Woodwork Technology Education; Electrical and Electronic Technology Education; Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education; Education in Christian Religious Studies; Civil Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Computer Engineering; Law; Geology; and Psychology.EKSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, expressed his delight at the accreditation, describing it as “a dream come true and a testament to the dedicated efforts of the university’s academic and administrative staff.
It positions the university even better to meet the educational needs of Nigerian youth in innovative and relevant fields.
He also acknowledged the support of Ekiti State Governor and Visitor to the university, Biodun Oyebanji; the Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Akin Oyebode, for their impactful efforts and commitment to advancing the university’s growth on a national and global scale.
