Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a significant personal revelation, revealing that God explicitly warned him that his firstborn would die if he ever left the RCCG.Referred to as Daddy GO by many, Pastor Adeboye made this disclosure during the June edition of the Holy Ghost Service, themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” held at midnight on Saturday, June 7, at the Redemption City of God.
He recounted his experience as he addressed the congregation on the importance of divine guidance and spiritual steadfastness. His testimony followed a sermon delivered earlier by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye.
The General Overseer expressed concern about a trend among many young Christians today—frequently “moving from one church to another, constantly appearing as first-timers in new congregations.
He reflected on his own journey upon becoming a born-again Christian, noting that at that time, “there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were various temptations to switch from one to another.” Despite the appeal of these notable ministries, Pastor Adeboye emphasized that God specifically instructed him to remain with the RCCG. He recounted, “But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay.
The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die,’” Adeboye revealed. At that point, the RCCG was still relatively small, with its headquarters situated in a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.Even as a university lecturer, Adeboye remembered God’s instruction for him to submit to the spiritual leadership appointed by God—his spiritual father, who, despite lacking formal education, was divinely designated. “I was a lecturer at the university.
My father in the Lord didn’t attend secondary school, not even primary school. But God said this is where you will stay,” he shared.Pastor Adeboye urged the congregation, especially the youth, to earnestly seek God’s direction and remain committed to the place He has ordained for them. “Discover where God wants you to be, and stay there,” he advised.
He also clarified that his message was not meant to portray RCCG as superior to other Christian denominations. “I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” he affirmed.
