The Sokoto State Police have confirmed that six individuals lost their lives in a bomb explosion that occurred in Gwabro village, located in Tangaza Local Government Area, on Sunday.

Police spokesperson Ahmad Rufai verified the death toll but did not release additional details about the incident, which took place during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.An eyewitness, Hashimu, reported that the blast occurred in the afternoon.

He explained that many young people were traveling between villages to visit family and friends, a common practice during Eid. He noted that the explosion happened amidst these visits.

A representative of the Tangaza Local Government Chairman, Garzali Raka, stated that the deceased have been buried in accordance with Islamic customs.

Sources from the village indicated that the Lakurawa terrorists, known for terrorizing residents of Tangaza and Gudu local councils, may have planted the explosive.

Villagers from the two local councils have expressed concerns over ongoing threats and called on the government to take appropriate action to restore peace and protect communal harmony from the terrorists’ disruptions.
