Lagos House of Assembly member Stephen Ogundipe Olukayode has acknowledged the economic difficulties Nigerians are currently experiencing but called on citizens to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu’s administration as it works to implement reforms.Speaking during a birthday celebration in Sehinde Calisto, Oshodi, Lagos, the representative for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 described the nation’s situation as challenging yet expressed confidence that the government is dedicated to stabilizing the economy.
Asiwaju was very sincere and candid. He addressed the people as a father figure, emphasizing that we should be patient with him and that the country will gradually return to stability,” Olukayode stated.“We are aware of the hunger and hardship, but we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Nigeria is our country; we have no alternative. We believe things will improve over time.
The lawmaker also assured that political tensions within Lagos State have been addressed, affirming that governance is moving forward. “Asiwaju has been engaging with stakeholders, and some of the issues we’ve discussed have been resolved. Lagos is back on track.
I can confidently say that because the President has spoken, and we have heard him clearly.”Olukayode, who chairs the Lagos House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, urged Nigerians to give the All Progressives Congress (APC) space to carry out its agenda, highlighting that the party’s rise to power was through struggle and that it remains committed to progress.“We ask Nigerians to allow our party room to implement its plans. APC came into power through a hard-fought struggle, and we are still working towards improvement. I also call on politicians and leaders to approach matters calmly and focus on the current realities, as that’s what the people are watching,” he said.
He further appealed to wealthy individuals to support those in need, emphasizing community solidarity: “Rich people should share their wealth; those blessed by God should also bless others.”Reflecting on his two years in office, Olukayode underscored the importance of infrastructure development and equitable distribution of resources across Lagos’s constituencies.
We are making efforts to improve infrastructure in Lagos, and we will continue to advocate for balanced development so that every area benefits from our progress,” he stated.Regarding his achievements, he mentioned that his proposed bills focus on development, core values, and community welfare, including rewarding diligent workers and improving roads.
We have outlined road projects, and the Governor has assured me that he will visit Oshodi to assess progress firsthand,” he added.
He also highlighted the significance of youth empowerment, emphasizing ongoing efforts to train young people in entrepreneurship and skills development to foster job creation.
My constituents support my efforts, and we will continue to empower our youth so they won’t rely solely on formal employment.
We are committed to more training and empowerment initiatives.
In conclusion, Olukayode urged patience from Nigerians, especially regarding the economic challenges, and reiterated his commitment to service and development across Lagos.
