During a live broadcast on AIT, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule voiced serious concern over the increasing violence and killings in neighboring Benue State.
He passionately urged criminal elements to abandon their violent pursuits and embrace peace, emphasizing the importance of regional stability and human dignity. Governor Sule also praised the proactive efforts of security agencies in Nasarawa State for their vigilance and swift response in preventing the escalation of violence across the border.
He revealed that recent intelligence-driven operations by the police and security agencies have resulted in the arrest of several suspects believed to be linked to the killings in Benue.
Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, CP Umar Nadada, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation near the Benue–Nasarawa border.
He stated that the suspects were found in possession of advanced weapons, including AK-47 rifles, which they reportedly intended to use for further attacks. Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to maintaining peace and security within the state.
He assured that Nasarawa State would continue collaborating with Benue and federal authorities to ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice.
