Last week, a commercial motorcyclist in Ago Iwoye shared plans to enroll himself and his younger brother, Ganiyu, in an adult learning school. Sadly, those dreams have been cut short.
On the night of 27/09/2025 around 1:30am, Ganiyu was asked by neighbors near Mini Campus to help buy petrol. While he was away, they were attacked and robbed. Upon his return, suspicion fell on him.
The matter was reported to Ago Iwoye Police Station. Instead of investigating, officers allegedly brutalized Ganiyu tying him up, beating him with batons, and slashing him with machetes.
After days of agony, he was rushed to Love and Care Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. His body now lies at Ijebu Ode Mortuary.Friends of the deceased are grief-stricken and considering protest, but community leaders are calling for calm to avoid further unrest.
This incident raises serious questions about police conduct in Ago Iwoye, where robbery cases remain rampant but innocent lives are being wasted.
