Former Speaker and new Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, is expected to tender his resignation as a lawmaker on the floor of the House of Representatives today, Channels Television reports.
President Bola Tinubu had on June 2nd, appointed the former Speaker as his Chief of Staff.
PROF LEE 9JA recalls that prior to his appointment, Gbajabiamila of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on February 25, won the Surulere I Federal Constituency election for the sixth time.
However, his recent appointment had raised concerns as to how he would manage both roles owing to the fact that the former Speaker was on Tuesday inaugurated alongside his colleagues for the 10th Assembly.
According to Channels, the lawmaker will on Wednesday (today) tender his resignation after which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, may conduct a fresh election to fill the role.
