On Monday, a portion of Landmark Beach, nestled on Victoria Island, Lagos, was demolished to pave the way for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has consistently justified the demolition, emphasising the importance of removing the landmark centre due to its location on the Federal Government’s Right-of-Way.
The Federal Government started payment of compensation to property owners affected by the demolition on Wednesday.
Mami Chula Beach, which had its grand opening earlier in February 2024, is situated within the Oniru Beach area. It provides a high-end beach experience, offering a gourmet restaurant, a chic rooftop lounge, and a beachside bar.
