Civil rights activist and former National Assembly legislator Senator Shehu Sani has once again criticized former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, following El-Rufai’s claims that President Bola Tinubu reversed his decision to appoint him as a minister after first soliciting his participation in the administration.

In a recent interview with Arise Television, El-Rufai stated that President Tinubu had publicly urged him to join his cabinet, but ultimately changed his mind for reasons he did not disclose. El-Rufai remarked, “The President begged me publicly to come and serve in his government. I had my plans, and I told President Tinubu from the outset that while I would support him, I did not want anything in return, as Nigerian politics often revolves around what one can gain from support.”In response to El-Rufai’s comments, Senator Sani expressed that President Tinubu likely altered his stance because of a profound lack of trust in El-Rufai.

In a post on X, Sani labeled El-Rufai a traitor who has betrayed several of his former allies, including the late President Musa Yar’Adua.Sani asserted, “No rational president would place his trust in a person who has a history of betraying his friends for political gain.

He highlighted the gravity of El-Rufai’s actions, stating, “If you can treat your brother in such a manner, what would prevent you from doing the same to me?”He concluded with a poignant analogy: “No one would accept into their home someone who arrives holding a sword stained with the blood of his brother.”
