Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, emphasized the essential nature of having the strength for a rewarding conclusion and an improved future during a recent Thanksgiving Service at the church’s Lagos headquarters.
This event also marked his 83rd birthday. Using biblical teachings and personal reflections, Adeboye inspired his congregation, reminding them that the conclusion of life can often exceed its beginnings.
He urged them to concentrate on creating a glorious future, referencing Isaiah 3:10: “Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him.” He described life as a three-part journey—past, present, and future—highlighting the importance of planning today for a better tomorrow.“The past shapes today.
The present carries the legacy of past decisions. You are what you are today because of choices made in the past.
If you are a medical doctor today, it is because you chose to attend medical school previously.
The decisions you make today will undoubtedly influence your future,” he stated. Adeboye underscored the value of the future, asserting, “The end of a matter is better than its beginning. It is how you conclude that truly counts. God has the power to secure your future and ensure that your tomorrow is bright.”Using Abraham’s story as an example, he remarked, “God blessed Abraham abundantly and made him great. His son Isaac was also greatly blessed, and Jacob, Isaac’s son, became exceedingly great. God can elevate you from greatness to even greater levels.” He highlighted the generational growth within Abraham’s family: “Abraham had one recognized child; Isaac had two sons, and Jacob had twelve.
These twelve multiplied immensely. When they went to Egypt, they numbered 70, and by the time they left, they had grown to 600,000.”Adeboye encouraged his audience to embrace preparation and discipline, especially in parenting. “Invest in your children; they are your future. As the Yorubas wisely say, a child not properly trained may end up losing the house you have built. God trusted Abraham because He knew he would instruct his children in His ways.
He cautioned against parental laxity, stating, “Do not let your children have unrestricted freedom. If you do, you jeopardize your future. Be firm in guiding them to serve the Lord.”To children, Adeboye issued a critical reminder: “Your role is not just to obey your parents but to honor them as well.
Honoring your parents is key to living a long life. If you believe you know better than your parents, you might not live long.”He also highlighted the values of diligence, humility, and the impact of one’s actions on future outcomes. “Learn to sow; what you plant today will determine your harvest tomorrow. Be diligent in your endeavors, as God rewards those who are industrious,” he advised. On humility, he warned, “Pride can be detrimental; God opposes the proud. Without humility, you risk having your future thwarted. Submit to God, and He will protect your destiny.
In conclusion, Adeboye affirmed that a glorious future is assured for those who are in Christ, stating, “If Christ lives in you, your future is radiant.”
