Security forces in Kogi State have initiated a comprehensive search operation to rescue passengers kidnapped along the Obajana-Kabba highway, as confirmed by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 8, Abubakar Zubairu, and Kogi State Commissioner of Police (CP) Miller Dantawaye.CP Dantawaye emphasized that the police are committed to locating the 18-seater bus and its passengers who were abducted.

On Friday, both police leaders, accompanied by armed officers, visited the attack sites, pledging to intensify efforts to make the state inhospitable for criminals.

In a statement released by Public Relations Officer SP William Ovye in Lokoja, Dantawaye explained that the visit was intended to assess the situation and direct the deployment of more operational resources for a thorough search operation to eliminate any sanctuary for criminals.

The AIG also liaised with Divisional Police Officers and other key stakeholders to develop proactive strategies for crime prevention and control.

He urged residents to remain calm and assured them that the Command is collaborating with essential partners in security management.CP Dantawaye reiterated the Command’s steadfast commitment to working alongside other security agencies to sustain efforts against criminal activities in the state.

He instructed Divisional Police Officers to conduct extensive crime prevention patrols and intelligence-led operations to protect travelers and residents.

The engagement with local security groups aimed to bolster community collaboration in crime combat.

The meeting included representatives from organizations such as the Hunters Association, Vigilante Groups, Oduduwa People’s Congress (OPC), Agbekoya Group, National Hunters, Special Hunters, and Fulani Hunters.Dantawaye praised the crucial role of community-led security initiatives in preventing and responding to crime.

He highlighted the importance of intelligence sharing, noting that law enforcement relies on public cooperation to effectively combat crime. While acknowledging challenges in manpower, authorities assured that training and collaboration would be enhanced to improve security operations.

The CP stressed the need for public support in providing intelligence and assistance. Community leaders pledged their ongoing support for security efforts, urging residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid confrontations with heavily armed criminals.

They underscored the necessity for intelligence-driven security strategies to effectively dismantle criminal networks.
