A total of 34,060 candidates, representing over 50 percent of those who sat for the November/December 2025 examinations conducted by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), passed with credits in English Language and Mathematics.Speaking at the examination results presentation in Benin City, Edo State, on Monday, NABTEB’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, announced that the exams—comprising the National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate (NBC/NTC), as well as the Advanced National Business Certificate and Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANBC/ANTC)were held across 2,079 centres nationwide from Monday, November 3, 2025, to Saturday, December 6, 2025.
He disclosed that a total of 61,591 candidates registered for the exams, including 57,444 O-Level students and 4,147 A-Level students. Among the registrants, 34,185 were male and 27,406 female.l
According to Dr. Mohammed, the release of these results marks a significant milestone, highlighting the board’s dedication to integrity, transparency, and credibility in administering public examinations.He expressed appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Education, partners, security agencies, examination personnel, and staff whose professionalism contributed to the smooth conduct of the exams.
The prompt release of these results, just 64 days after the last paper and 24 days after marking, underscores our commitment to excellence and efficiency,” he stated.
He further explained that an analysis of enrollment revealed that at the craft level, candidates enrolled in 17 Engineering Trades, 7 Construction Trades, 8 Miscellaneous Trades, 4 Business Trades, and 16 General Education subjects. At the master craft level, enrollment included 13 Engineering Trades, 7 Construction Trades, 7 Miscellaneous Trades, 4 Business Trades, and 3 General Education subjects.Overall, candidates participated in 86 trades and 19 General Education subjects across both ordinary and advanced certificates, he added.
The registrar outlined the performance per trade category: Engineering Trades recorded a 76.84 percent success rate, with Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works being the most popular; Construction Trades achieved 79.32 percent, with Bricklaying and Blocklaying as the top choices; Miscellaneous Trades scored 77 percent, with Catering Crafts Practice attracting the highest participation; Business Trades had a 52.07 percent success rate, with Bookkeeping as the most selected subject.
He noted that 57.32 percent of candidates were certified as craftsmen with NBC/NTC certificates, while 56.52 percent qualified as master craftsmen with ANBC/ANTC certificates.
Additionally, 54,009 candidates—representing 94.74 percent—obtained at least five credits, including or excluding English Language and Mathematics.
He also observed a slight improvement compared to the 2024 results: in 2024, 29,880 candidates (67.56 percent) achieved five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, whereas 42,431 candidates (95.94 percent) attained five credits and above with or without these subjects.
Regarding examination malpractice, he reported that 259 candidates, or 0.42 percent of all candidates, were involved in misconduct-slightly fewer than the 256 candidates, or 0.53 percent, involved in 2024.
