The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, expressed on Saturday that the ongoing economic struggles facing Nigerians necessitate divine intervention. Oba Akanbi made this statement during the fourth annual “Odun Olodunmare” celebration held at his palace in Iwo.The traditional leader emphasized that Nigerians must turn back to God, seeking forgiveness and wisdom to address the country’s various economic challenges. “When times are as tough as they are now, we must all return to God, as I am doing today. If we have sinned by being ungrateful, may He grant us forgiveness,” he stated. “We urgently need God’s intervention; we must unite in seeking the one God who can end our suffering and grant us wisdom to overcome these challenges.”He further remarked that Nigeria is rich in mineral resources, sufficient to meet its needs if the people seek divine guidance. “If we are not ungrateful in sharing what God desires from us, the Creator will guide us in utilizing these resources without external assistance,” he noted.Oba Akanbi pointed out that the current economic issues are not unique to President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He stated that since President Shehu Shagari’s time, the nation has faced economic difficulties. “This isn’t new; no government since independence has been free from economic hardship,” he remarked.Regarding the significance of the celebration, Oba Akanbi explained that it serves as a platform for true worship of the living God. “Only God deserves our worship, and we cannot share that with anyone else. Today celebrates culture and tradition, which is why we have both Muslims and Christians here, united in worship that is free from idolatry,” he concluded.
