NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS), OGUN JCC

SUBJECT: ARC. DR. JOLAOSHO THE RECTOR OF MAPOLY SETS OGUN STATE ON FIRE

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun JCC writes with great displeasure and heartbreak to express our dissatisfaction with the continuous misconduct of Arc. Dr. Jolaosho, the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY). This memorandum is necessitated by his tyrannical rule, which has left students and stakeholders in a state of disillusionment. As an association, we had high hopes for Dr. Jolaosho’s emergence as the rector of this prestigious institution. We rooted for his appointment, believing his academic brilliance would translate into effective leadership. Unfortunately, he has proven that academic excellence is not synonymous with good administration, a critical area where he has failed woefully.

Among his many inadequacies, we highlight the following:

  1. His poor managerial skills have led to administrative stagnation and inefficiency within the institution.
  2. The institution has suffered underfunding and neglect, creating an unconducive environment for learning.
  3. Graduated students have been unnecessarily delayed over the unavailability of results, causing undue frustration and jeopardizing their future.

Despite our efforts as an ideological body to engage him constructively and address these issues, Dr. Jolaosho has remained adamant, displaying a blatant disregard for due process. His actions include false accusations against the government, an act we find unacceptable.

However, we acknowledge the Ogun State Government’s commitment to addressing students’ issues with the seriousness they deserve. To that end, NANS Ogun JCC, in conjunction with the recognized leadership of the Students’ Union, has resolved to take decisive action. Tomorrow, Wednesday, 14th January 2025, the mother of all protests will commence simultaneously at the school gate and the government house. This demonstration will persist until all our demands are met. Nigerian students across Ogun State, under the able supervision of NANS JCC, will not relent until the following issues are resolved:

  1. The immediate overhaul of the institution’s administrative processes.
  2. The prompt release of all pending results for graduated students.
  3. A commitment to addressing the pending time bomb of school fees increment across the state.

It is worth noting that if the issue of school fees increment escalates to a statewide protest, Arc. Dr. Jolaosho will bear full responsibility for the consequences. His stone-heartedness has left us with no choice but to act in the collective interest of all Nigerian students in Ogun State.

We appeal to the Ogun State Government to intervene promptly and decisively to avert further disruptions and ensure that the students’ welfare and future are prioritized.

Signed:
Comr Adeyanju Francis
Chairman, NANS Ogun JCC
