Noimot Salako-Oyedele Deputy Governor of Ogun State Olufemi Adediran On Wednesday, protesting students from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Ogun State, ambushed the convoy of Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Reports indicate that the students, expressing their anger, targeted Salako-Oyedele’s convoy as she was en route to the 35 Artillery Brigade Alabama in Abeokuta.

She was scheduled to represent Governor Dapo Abiodun at the reception marking the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.

During the incident, some of the deputy governor’s security vehicles were damaged, and several security personnel sustained injuries while attempting to maintain order.

Kayode Akinmade, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, confirmed the attack in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

Akinmade stated that the agitated students, armed with sticks and various projectiles, launched an assault on the convoy despite efforts from security personnel to calm them.

As soon as the students recognized it was the deputy governor, they became even more unruly and moved to attack her convoy in an attempt to halt it, disregarding pleas from her security team and police officers to remain calm and let the convoy pass,” Akinmade said.

He mentioned that the deputy governor had to promptly divert her route to allow the protesting students to pass safely before proceeding to the event she was meant to attend.

Akinmade further highlighted that the students had blocked the road, disrupting traffic flow.
