Timileyin Ajayi, 32, has been placed in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia for the alleged murder of Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old corps member.
Adaidu, who was serving in Abuja, was reportedly killed during a visit to Ajayi’s home in the Papalana area of New Karshi, situated in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Ajayi was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of Adaidu’s severed head after allegedly dismembering her body.
He was later presented at the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters, along with the knife and machetes believed to have been used in the crime.Visible injuries from a mob attack before his arrest, Ajayi confessed to the murder in an interview with Channels Television, claiming it was an unplanned act driven by jealousy.
I killed her because we didn’t always have each other, it wasn’t something I intended. It occurred on that day due to what I discovered. She was cheating,he said, explaining that he found evidence of her infidelity on her phone.When asked whether he regretted his actions, he replied, I have no regrets because life is reciprocal. If you do something to someone, you have to understand what they are going through.
That’s why I feel no remorse; we were compatible.Adaidu’s family has refuted any knowledge of a relationship between her and Ajayi. Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, stated, This ‘Timi’ guy, we don’t know him. We had never seen him until we were informed that he murdered and dismembered our sister. I demand justice for my sister’s death.Her uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, conveyed the family’s anguish, recounting how the police informed them of the situation.
He has destroyed our daughter in a horrific manner; he didn’t just kill her, he butchered her into pieces, cutting her body into more than 50 parts and preparing them in multiple polythene bags,he said.SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, assured the public that justice would be served. Investigation is ongoing, and once concluded, he will face prosecution.
We want to ensure the public that this suspect will be held accountable,he stated, inviting anyone with information on the case to come forward.Reports have surfaced suggesting that Ajayi is a gospel singer; however, he described himself as a cryptocurrency trader during his interview with Channels Television.
