At the Independent Awards 2024 Gala Night in Lagos, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu was honored as Best Woman of the Year, a recognition she dedicated to Nigerian women and youth for their significant roles in the nation’s development.
Represented by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen, the wife of the Speaker of the House, Tinubu emphasized that these women and young people are the unsung heroes of the country.
She expressed gratitude to the Independent Newspaper for the accolade and stated that it would motivate her to continue contributing to national progress.
During the event, Chief Olabode George, a prominent PDP leader, called on President Bola Tinubu to address the crisis in Rivers State to prevent further instability in the country.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining peace for Nigeria’s economic health, warning that failure to do so could lead to national unrest.
The awards recognized 36 individuals and organizations for their contributions across various sectors, with notable winners including Governor Seyi Makinde as Independent Man of the Year, Chief Bisi Akande receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, and entertainment influencer Kiekie awarded Social Media Influencer of the Year.
Other recipients in governance, business, and education also celebrated their achievements.
