A police inspector, Ajele Oloyede, has reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a ceramics company in Igbesa, Ogun State, where he was serving in a security capacity.According to information gathered on Sunday, the incident took place on Thursday.
State police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that Tolorunloju Stephen, an officer from Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, discovered Oloyede after returning from a trip to Ikeja around 1:20 p.m.Upon entering the security office, Stephen found Oloyede resting his head on a table.

When asked if he was okay, the inspector assured him that he was fine. Stephen then placed his bag and pistol on the table before stepping into the restroom.Shortly after, a gunshot was heard.
When Stephen returned, he allegedly found Oloyede on the floor in a pool of blood. According to Odutola, Oloyede was quickly transported to Ota General Hospital by private security personnel, where he was later pronounced dead.Subsequently, police officers arrived at the scene, recovered the deceased’s weapon, and his body was sent to the hospital for autopsy.
The case will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further inquiry, and measures to notify Oloyede’s family are currently being taken.
